A VITAL relegation clash and an all-East Lothian cup tie are among the games involving the county’s football sides tonight (Thursday).

Only Tranent are not in action on a busy night, with three games kicking off in East Lothian.

In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League, Musselburgh Athletic make the short trip to Penicuik.

Preston Athletic host Kirkcaldy & Dysart in the First Division while Ormiston Primrose welcome Tweedmouth Rangers in the Second Division.

Finally, Haddington Athletic tackle Dunbar United in the third round of the League Cup.

Match of the Day

Haddington Athletic v Dunbar United

League Cup – Third Round

Kick-off 7.30pm

SEVEN points separate Haddington Athletic and Dunbar United in the top division of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL).

The two sides have met twice in the league, with the Seasiders emerging victorious on both occasions.

Dunbar have enjoyed an impressive return to the Premier Division while Haddington have steadied the ship after some inconsistent form.

A home tie with Crossgates Primrose awaits the victors.

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 7.30pm

AT LEAST a point is needed if Musselburgh Athletic are to delay Broxburn Athletic’s bid to be crowned EoSFL Premier Division champions.

A draw would leave Broxburn only needing a single point from their remaining three games to lift the title.

Musselburgh will be looking to at least finish as runners-up and head to a Penicuik side sitting 11th in the standings.

Liam Burns and his team were 6-2 winners at Olivebank last year and would welcome the same result.

Preston Athletic v Kirkcaldy & Dysart

East of Scotland Football League First Division

Kick-off 7.45pm

ELEVENTH welcomes 10th in the First Division as Preston Athletic host a Kirkcaldy & Dysart side above them only on goal difference.

A win for Preston could lift them into the top half of the standings.

They will be boosted by a cup victory over Whitehill Welfare at the weekend and were 3-2 winners in Fife at the beginning of the season.

With seven games left to play, Preston will be looking to ensure a strong finish to the campaign.

Ormiston Primrose v Tweedmouth Rangers

East of Scotland Football League Second Division

Kick-off 7pm

ANYTHING but a win will likely spell the end of Ormiston Primrose’s stay in the Second Division.

Tweedmouth extended the gap at the bottom of the table to five points on Saturday with a win over Edinburgh United.

Ormiston have five games in hand over their visitors but with a 10-point gap they need to start collecting victories as soon as possible.

Tweedmouth won 3-0 at the beginning of the year and Ormiston will be looking to turn that round.
