Football: A busy afternoon for five of the county's sides

Tranent, Musselburgh Athletic and Dunbar United all have league contests while Preston Athletic and Ormiston Primrose look for cup progressions.

Haddington Athletic are sidelined.

In the Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL), Tranent welcome league champions East Kilbride.

Meanwhile, in the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Musselburgh Athletic head to Crossgates Primrose and Dunbar United travel to Luncarty.

Preston Athletic are also away from home as they head to Whitehill Welfare in the third round of the League Cup.

Ormiston Primrose have home advantage against St Andrews United in the third round of the King Cup.

Preston Athletic (blue) lost out to Arniston Rangers for the fourth time this Saturday in a high-scoring contest at the Pennypit.

League Cup – Third Round

FORMER Preston Athletic manager Jack Lynch welcomes his old club to Midlothian with a place in the fourth round of the League Cup at stake.

The two clubs are locked in mid-table in the First Division and will be looking to finish the campaign with a decent cup run.

The two sides met at Ferguson Park before Christmas in the league and shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Paul Currie and John Daly will be hoping to come out on top on this visit to Midlothian.

Scottish Lowland Football League

Kick-off 3pm

LEAGUE champions East Kilbride visit Foresters Park looking to end their spell in the SLFL with a win.

The Lanarkshire and East Lothian clubs have been regular foes this campaign and share two wins apiece.

Both of Tranent's victories have come in cup contests and they will be out to translate that form into a league showing.

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Kick-off 2.30pm

A SHOCK defeat against Kinnoull last weekend has surely just about killed off Musselburgh's lingering hopes of catching Broxburn Athletic at the top of the Premier Division.

However, until it is mathematically impossible, they have surely got to hope they can reel the West Lothian side in.

Their hosts are desperate for points and find themselves four points from safety at the bottom of the table.

The spoils were shared when the two sides met in October.

East of Scotland Football League Premier Divsiion

Kick-off 2.30pm

ANOTHER side looking for points in a bid to avoid the drop are Luncarty.

They sit two points adrift of Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts in the last relegation place but do have four games in hand.

Dunbar are sixth in the table but could climb higher with a strong showing over their remaining six league games.

A repeat of the 5-1 win at New Countess Park in September would be most welcome.

RELEGATION fears can be cast aside for the afternoon as Ormiston look to spring a cup surprise.

Richie Weir's men sit third bottom of the Second Division and host a St Andrews United side who look a good bet for promotion to the top flight.

A home win would be a surprise but Ormiston will go into the game with nothing to fear.
