A TRANENT man has teamed up with a reality television star to help Scotland cook up a storm on the badminton court.
The third 4 Nations Graded International Event was held at the Sir Craig Reedie Badminton Centre.
Players are selected on their results at ‘B’ and ‘C’ grade tournaments throughout the previous season.
Daniel Innes was delighted to be selected, for the second year running, to wear a Scottish shirt and play for his country in the event.
His regular mixed doubles partner Joanne Pottinger, from Orkney, was also selected in the ‘F’ Grade team, as was Edinburgh-based Peter Sawkins, famed for being the youngest winner of The Great British Bake Off.
Innes and Sawkins played and won all their men’s doubles matches against England, Ireland and Wales in the ‘F’ Grade event.
A few team points loss overall in the Welsh match caused disappointment and Scotland had to settle for silver, having beaten both England and Ireland.
The event brings together players of similar abilities from different nations.
The second day of the event in Glasgow saw a social mixed doubles tournaments, with partnerships drawn out of a hat.
Innes and his Welsh partner were delighted to win the 9-16 section after narrowly losing an early game to be in the 1-8 section.
The venue is no stranger to Innes, who partnered Pottinger to a silver medal in the mixed doubles there at the Glasgow Bonanza Event.
