NORTH Berwick High School is aiming for a netball double today (Thursday).

The school’s S1 and S2 teams are through to the finals of the Netball Scotland Scottish Schools Cup Plate.

The younger age group face Robert Gordon College at the University of Edinburgh’s Pleasance Sports Complex before the S2s take on either Clydeview Academy or Williamwood High School. Success would crown an impressive year for the school, who saw their S3 team win the Scottish Schools Plate.

Sally Hetherington, North Berwick High School netball coach, said: “A lot of the girls from the S1s/2s came along to support the S3s in their final and they were determined they would be next!

“Both teams went into their semi-finals with such a superb attitude and a desire to get there. Again, I could not be prouder of how these young girls respond in those pressure games – they play with such skill and determination, especially for this age group. I’m excited to see what they put out on court for the finals.”

She added: “Credit has to be given to t Bass Rocketeers Netball Club in North Berwick and the coaches there, especially Mary Ann Cosgrove, head coach of the U13/U15 age groups, and Sonia Livesey, assistant coach for the U15s and head coach for the primary school junior club – the majority of the girls in the school teams are also members of the club.”

S1 team: Madison Smith, Isla Lennock, Anna Gries, Leyla Hogg, Isla Buchan, Freya Buchanan, Caitlin Buntin, Ellie Cunningham, Rosie Tandy, Isla Burns and Freya Bevan.

S2 team: Millie Lindsay, Daisy Bowdler, Katie Lucas, May Kirkland, Isobel Kirkland, Ruby Coates, Rosie Boot, Marianne Hill, Mia Scott, Jess Smith, Elsie Arno and Holly Joseph.
