KNOX Academy pupil Jamie Pearman has emerged victorious at an international squash competition.

Twelve-year-old Jamie and his older brother Dylan travelled to Madrid to play in the Spanish Squash Junior Open earlier this month.

The brothers, from Haddington, are both members of Tyne District Squash and Racketball Club.

Jamie played in the boys’ under-13 event and managed to win all of his three matches 3-0 to reach the final.

There, he again picked up a 3-0 victory to lift the trophy.

Meanwhile, Dylan, 17, played in the boys’ under-19s and finished 11th.

The tournament was a European Squash Federation ranked competition and although Tyne District Squash and Racketball Club has had many juniors and adults play and represent Scotland both in the UK and internationally in its 45-year history (including Dylan and Jamie), the club has never before had a member win an international competition.
