GULLANE celebrated victory in the final of the East Lothian Junior County Cup at Kilspindie, as they held off the challenge of the Musselburgh team to win 3&1.

The double foursomes format pitched the Gullane pair of Liam Currid and Darren Howie, a Scottish Boys' internationalist, against Musselburgh’s Cameron Blair and Jack Noon.

The Musselburgh pair emerged as victors by two holes.

In the following handicap match, tJames Chalmers and William Ladbrooke (Gullane) received four strokes from Musselburgh’s Danny Gaines and Lewis Hannah, and Gullane built up a lead offive holes up by the end of the 17th – as they emerged victorious (three up).

In one semi final, Musselburgh had beaten a strong Longniddry team of Cameron Gallacher, recent winner of the Lothians Junior Champion of Champions, David Rudd, Valdemar Hundeboll, and Neil Canavan.

In the other last four clash, Gullane had beaten a young team from Glen Golf Club, comprising Sam Hall, Charlie and Owen Malcolm, and Murray Gilvray.

The Kilspindie course was in fantastic condition and the League would like to thank Jim Kinross, the captain, who presented the trophy, and all involved at Kilspindie Golf Club for hosting the competition.
