ONE of the jumps fences at Musselburgh Racecourse was set on fire in an act of vandalism.

The incident, late last Tuesday evening, was reported to police but did not impact the racing programme over the weekend.

Bill Farnsworth, Musselburgh Racecourse general manager, said: "It is disappointing that Musselburgh Racecourse has suffered from anti-social behaviour but fortunately it did not interrupt the racing programme.

"We would be grateful to hear from neighbours or anyone in the vicinity if they ever witness this kind of behaviour in the area."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.30am on Wednesday, 8 November, 2023 we were made aware of damage to property in Musselburgh. Enquiries are ongoing.”
