A TEMPORARY play park at the heart of East Lothian’s new town has been approved.

The play area to the south of Princes Way at Blindwells will be in place for up to three years before it is moved to a different, permanent, site.

Landowner Hargreaves Land confirmed that the play equipment would be moved to a new site by January 2026, once Persimmon’s site compound had been moved from that location.

East Lothian Council’s planning department had no objection to the plans, which also attracted no public objections.

Drawings included with the application show the type of play equipment for the site.

Alongside a seesaw and play house would be an inclusive roundabout, pixel panel and communication board.

Meanwhile, a “log stack” and “multi-play structures” also make up part of the site, as well as special play boulders and grass play mounds.

The first phase of Blindwells, between Tranent and Longniddry, will eventually include more than 1,500 new homes.

Initial plans have also previously shown that the site could expand further and feature thousands more homes, as well as shops, businesses and schools.
