Members of Musselburgh Sea Cadets & Royal Marines Cadets enjoyed medal success at the Northern Area Rowing Competition.

Twenty-two cadets took part in the recent event at Castle Semple Loch at Lochwinnoch, in Renfrewshire.

The junior team from Musselburgh, with a member of the Edinburgh Trinity unit, came third in their competition, winning bronze.

Celebrating winning gold were the junior boys team, the senior boys team, with two members from the Grangemouth unit, and senior girls team, who all won gold.

The winning teams will go on to take part in the National Combined Regatta at ExCel London in September.

A spokesperson for the unit said: “This is a massive achievement for the unit, with all three teams attending the National Combined Regatta, where they will race against other sea cadet teams from over the UK on the Thames in London.

“We are all very proud of all the hard work and dedication that the cadets put into their training to get to this place.”

Rowing training has started for the teams between Fisherrow Harbour and Musselburgh Lagoons.
