A STUNNING second round has pushed Grant Forrest into the top 10 at the Genesis Scottish Open.

The county golfer’s five-under-par 65 has him sitting eighth in the standings, with a number of golfers still out on the course at The Renaissance Club.

Forrest, who won his maiden European Tour title on home soil, was sitting on one-under-par after the opening round yesterday (Thursday).

However, seven birdies and just two bogeys have put him into contention ahead of the final two rounds tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.

Forrest is tied alongside fellow Scot Robert Macintyre, who has played seven holes of his second round.

Currently, there is a four-way tie at the top of the standings.

Tyrrell Hatton, Rory McIlroy and Tom Kim are level with overnight leader Byeong Hun An on nine-under-par.

That gives them a two shot advantage over their nearest challengers, with Forrest one stroke further adrift.
