DUNBAR Grammar School and North Berwick High School have been celebrating after being crowned champions on the basketball court.

Three competitions were held across the county, with each of the secondary schools invited to compete.

Dunbar Grammar School Dynamos were crowned the winners of the senior competition earlier this year, while Dunbar Grammar also enjoyed success in the S1 competition and North Berwick High School won the under-15s version.

The younger age group featured two teams from Dunbar – Dunbar Dynamos and Dunbar Dragons – alongside North Berwick High School and Knox Academy, with the Dynamos emerging victorious.

In the older age group, Dunbar again had two sides, with Knox Academy and Ross High School also competing but losing out to North Berwick.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council congratulated all those who took part, saying: “All games were played in great spirit, with some fantastic talent on show.

“Across all S1, under-15s and senior competitions approximately 150 students got the opportunity to represent their school in the East Lothian Basketball tournament. Thanks to all the teachers, Active Schools co-ordinators and volunteers who made these fixtures possible for the young people.

“Schools will be contacted after the summer for entries for the 23/24 competitions with the hope of also starting girls’ basketball competitions next year too.”
