PLANS for the UK’s largest offshore windfarm are the topic of discussion at a meeting next week.
East Lothian University of the Third Age (U3A) is meeting at Dunbar’s Bleachingfield Centre, where members will hear from Gary Donlin about plans for Berwick Bank.
About 250 turbines could be created at the site, about 38 kilometres off the East Lothian coast.
The consent process for the onshore elements of the scheme is currently with East Lothian Council, while the offshore consent process is being considered by the Scottish Government.
Mr Donlin, head of offshore stakeholder engagement with SSE, will discuss the proposals at the lecture, which is open to all to attend, at 2.30pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, East Lothian U3A will hold its AGM on June 7.
Alistair Moffat, previously director of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, will discuss his book Hidden Ways at the meeting at Haddington’s Maitlandfield House Hotel.
