A police report has found that, from 392 calls to the Tranent and Elphinstone area, 50 crimes were recorded during the month of September 2022.
These figures include 10 for theft, nine for shoplifting, nine for assault and five for drug offences.
The recorded crime number is down 46 per cent from August, which saw 96 crimes recorded, the highest number in the last 12 months.
Since August 2021, East Lothian Police have recorded 573 crimes in the Tranent and Elphinstone area.
The most common crime in the area since August 2021 is vandalism, with 87 crimes recorded in that category.
This is followed by assault (85 recorded), shoplifting (72 recorded), threat and abuse (57 recorded) and theft (55 recorded).
The average monthly recorded crimes total to 47 since August 2021.
At the last Community and Police Partnership meeting (CAPP) police listed speeding in Church Street, Tranent; speeding and school safety in Macmerry and speeding and split priority on Main Street, Ormiston and at the A6092 in Pencaitland as top concerns.
