POSITIVE mental health charity Changes is hosting a four-week wellbeing course, with various activities to get people out and about in nature this month.

The group provides free and confidential support to help people achieve and maintain positive mental health.

The four-week course – ‘Wellbeing in Nature Experiences’ – is run in partnership with Outside the Box, Fantoosh Sketching and the Scottish Seabird Centre.

The first week takes place at Fisherrow Harbour in Musselburgh and is led by Outside the Box.

Participants will learn key skills such as starting campfires and cooking food on them.

The session will give people a chance to learn new skills while socialising outdoors.

The second week takes place at Musselburgh’s Newhailes Estate and is run by Changes’ walk buddy and nature project worker Jade Mitchell.

It will include activities such as forest bathing, tree identification and journaling.

Week three sessions are led by established East Lothian artist Fantoosh Sketching, allowing participants to express their creativity and be inspired by their natural surroundings.

Fantoosh will share simple and fun sketching techniques that can help participants experience the wonders of the natural environment.

This will take place along the Esk in Musselburgh, starting from the job centre.

The final week of the course is hosted by the Scottish Seabird Centre at Musselburgh Lagoons, and will give people the chance to learn more about local wildlife.

Participants will take part in birdwatching, an activity which allows for introspection and contemplation.

The course is open only to East Lothian residents.

The sessions take place on Tuesday afternoons, 1-4.30pm, beginning on September 6.
