A MOMENTOUS charity event has raised more than £62,000 in the fight against cancer. Cancer Research UK held its first ever Relay for Life in Dunbar last month.
The event saw members of more than a dozen teams complete laps of a circuit outside the town’s Hallhill Sports Centre for 24 hours.
Fundraisers had targeted £28,000 but were stunned in the days following the event to find it had raised more than £50,000.
With donations continuing to come in, that figure has risen further.
A spokeswoman for the event said on social media: “Four weeks ago, we were putting the finishing touches to Dunbar’s very first Relay for Life.
“Dunbar, you were amazing! £62,000 so far raised to support the vital work of Cancer Research UK in Scotland with events still to happen and cash donations still coming in.”
