A COMMUNITY council has responded to complaints about “inconsiderate, dangerous and illegal parking” and “speed of vehicles” on roads in Cockenzie and Port Seton.
Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Council received several complaints over the summer about dangerous driving in the village.
It announced on Facebook that it had engaged with East Lothian Council and Police Scotland to seek assistance.
The community council said in a statement: “Despite pleas on Facebook, and local businesses putting up signage, the situation has not improved and we fear it is only a matter of time before someone is injured as a result of a driver’s careless actions.”
The group hopes to hold a public meeting where local residents, business owners, East Lothian Council and Police Scotland can discuss the issues. A date is yet to be decided.
The community council added: “We encourage you to report such behaviour to the police, or in the event of parking on double yellow lines, East Lothian Council.
“To those of you who may be tempted to drive a little faster than you should, or park where you shouldn’t, even for a short time, we urge you to think of the safety of our residents and visitors.”
