COVID-19 TESTING units are running across the county this week as Scotland continues to battle against Covid-19 and rising case numbers.

People with no symptoms can get tested in a range of ways, at mobile units, the test centre in Musselburgh or at home.

Residents are being reminded that they can have the virus and show no symptoms, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

Testing, an East Lothian Council spokesperson said, “helps people take immediate action if they test positive, by self-isolating to avoid spreading the virus to others” and is important to move to a less restrictive way of life.

The test centre at the former Stoneyhill Community Centre in Musselburgh on Stoneyhill Farm Road is open 11am-6pm Tuesday-Saturday.

No appointment is needed and people can get tested more than once.

The facility is open to everyone from East Lothian as long as they have no symptoms. People can also collect a testing kit to take home.

There are also several mobile testing units visiting several venues across the county.

People do not need to live in the community being visited to get tested there.

Walk-in appointments are also available, but appointments are preferred to save time.

Bookings can be made online at www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test from 6pm the day before getting tested or by calling 0300 303 2713.

When asked why the test is being booked, people are asked to select ‘my local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms’.

All are open 10am-6pm unless stated otherwise.
