A MAN was seriously injured in a collision between two HGVs on the A1 yesterday at Thorntonloch, near Dunbar, Police Scotland have confirmed.

The road was closed for more than 12 hours.

At about 10.10am yesterday, both vehicles were travelling north on the A1, about half a mile north of Torness Power Station, when they collided as they approached temporary roadworks.

Emergency services attended and a 22-year-old man - one of the drivers - was taken to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious leg injuries.

As a result of the incident, bitumen spilled onto the road and it had to be closed for much of the day for the spillage to be cleared.

Police Scotland are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “We are appealing for anyone who was driving in this area yesterday morning who may have seen the vehicles involved, or has dash-cam footage that can help us.

“A man has been seriously injured and it is vital we find out exactly what caused this crash.”
