A MOBILE Covid-19 vaccination unit will be visiting East Lothian for the first time next week, joining the East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington as a place people can get their first or second dose.

This week, NHS Lothian teamed up with the Scottish Ambulance Service and launched a mobile drop-in bus as a place people can get doses of one of the available coronavirus vaccines.

The bus visited various parts of the Lothian healthboard and is at The Centre in Livingston today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) and Fort Kinnaird on Sunday.

It has now added two locations in East Lothian to its list of venues next week, this will be the first time the unit has visited the county.

It will be at Bleachingfield in Dunbar on Monday and in the car park of Musselburgh’s Tesco store on Tuesday.

The unit allows those who are working in retail and hospitality or those who are out and about to get their vaccine.

Doses will be given between 11am and 7pm each day to all of those over the age of 18.

The bus only carries Moderna and Astra Zeneca vaccines so will not be able to give second doses of the Pfizer jag.

The East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington is also one of NHS Lothian’s mass vaccination centres.

It will be open every day 8.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4.30pm for drop-in vaccinations.

All of those over the age of 18 who have not yet had their first dose are welcome to attend without an appointment.

Those who are waiting for their second are also welcome to turn up as long as they received their first dose at least eight weeks beforehand.

People do not need to be registered with a GP to attend a drop-in clinic with people seen on a first come first served basis.

NHS Lothian is also offering new smaller drop-in clinics, organised by health and social care partnerships, with details available at www.nhslothian.scot/Coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/Drop-in-Clinics.aspx. There are none of these clinics in East Lothian at the moment.
