THE Haddington Show, one of East Lothian's most popular annual events, has been cancelled due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
There had previously been hopes that the show, which was scheduled to take place on June 27 at East Fortune, might be able to go ahead but organisers the United East Lothian Agricultural Society (UELAS) have now confirmed the cancellation of this year's event.
In a statement, chairman Alan Thomson said: "It is with deep regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Haddington Show.
"After extensive discussions between the directors of UELAS in light of the current outbreak of coronavirus, and after careful consideration of all information provided by the Scottish Government, it was agreed that we have no alternative but to cancel our annual show with immediate effect.
"We take our public health responsibilities very seriously and feel that all necessary action must be taken to protect our exhibitors, competitors, visitors, committee and volunteers during this period of uncertainty.
"We hope to welcome you all back to East Fortune in June 2021 and thank you once again for your continued support."
